The Seven Laws of Delicious Living Success
Delicious Law #1: Stop letting other people, events, and life situations control who you are or who you want to become.
You absolutely do not need anyone’s permission to live your life. You are the one who walks in that skin, so quit worrying about what everyone thinks or what they might say about the decisions you make in life. Refuse to give up your power to choose how you will live your life, who will come along for the journey, and where you will end up. It’s your life! If you don’t make it delicious, who will?
“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” —Ayn Rand
Delicious Law #2: Quit living in fear, doubt, and worry! That’s right: agonizing over things you cannot control is simply a waste of your time. Failure to face your fears only makes them bigger and stronger, so stare fear in the face and say “Bring it on.” Some say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I say when life gives you lemons make a fabulous lemon meringue pie, with lots of whipped cream and a sweet cherry on top!
“Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.” —Oprah Winfrey
Delicious Law #3: Dream BIG and have even bigger faith. You must realize that the only limits on your life are the ones you impose upon yourself. Who says you are not destined for greatness? Who says you can’t make six figures or drive a BMW? Who says you can’t travel the world? The only person who blocks your delicious destiny is you, so tell yourself to get out of the way and boldly step into your sassy stilettos and walk it out!
“I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass.” —Maya Angelou
Delicious Law #4: Take control of your thoughts. Think your way to the life you desire. Thoughts control your feelings, feelings control your actions, and your actions create your destiny. Get rid of those old mental tapes that speak fear and stagnation in your life and replace them with delicious thoughts of the sweetest life you can imagine. Focus your mental energy on you, your dreams, and your life. You can do that with three actions:
Action #1: Learn the art of “being” versus doing. Focus your thoughts, actions, and behaviors on being in the moment and relishing the splendor of life. When you spend your life “doing,” you miss the simple wonders of happiness.
Action #2: Stop looking for the big moment or breakthrough in your life. Instead, create the life you want right now in this moment. A breakthrough is not coming; it is in the present moment.
Action #3: Focus on BEING authentically YOU. Be intentional about everything you do! Become consumed with becoming your BEST SELF and doing what you LOVE. When you do this, you have little time to worry about what others think or what they are doing.
The power of thought is one of the greatest gifts you’ll ever receive. Use your thoughts to create a life so tantalizing that other people will want a piece of it.
“Your thoughts and beliefs of the past have created this moment, and all the moments up to this moment. What you are now choosing to believe and think and say will create the next moment and the next day and the next month and the next year.” —Louise Hay
Delicious Law #5: Discover your “it,” master it, and shamelessly flaunt it to the world. Living a delicious life is about discovering the vibrant YOU within and not being afraid to simply just be you all the time and in any situation. You were given a beautiful light, a light to shine so that others may be lifted up in the darkness. You have special gifts uniquely designed for your life, and it is your duty to use those gifts to heal and inspire the world. So go ahead, discover your “it” and tantalize the world with it.
“We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” —Marianne Williamson
Delicious Law #6: Reinvent yourself each day. Just like a piece of succulent fruit, sometimes you’ve got to peel away a thick outer shell to get to the juicy goodness. You are filled with juicy goodness, and it’s time for you to release your bursting flavor into the world. Evolution is a process that can sometimes be painful. Just like the caterpillar bound in the cocoon, you too may have dark moments in your life, but if you do the work from the inside out, I guarantee that you will transform into a beautiful butterfly. It’s your choice: stay a caterpillar and be bound in darkness forever, or get yourself right from the inside out and break free as a beautiful butterfly and fly forever!
Start today by creating a ritual for your life instead of following a routine. A ritual is celebratory, and a routine is obligatory. A ritual includes sacred and special time for you to reflect, reposition, rejuvenate, and restore your spirit. A ritual brings joy and satisfaction. Add one thing new to your ritual every week to create a life ritual that helps you become your highest, best, and most delicious self.
“Although beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, the feeling of being beautiful exists solely in the mind of the beheld.”
—Martha Beck
Delicious Law #7: Stop making excuses and just live your life!
Excuses lead to immobilization, dissatisfaction, and failure. Learn to embrace “I am willing” as the key to unlocking the possibilities, opportunities, and doorways to a sweet, satisfying, and scrumptious life. If you knew behind Door Number 1 there was a million dollars and a key was offered to you, would you open the door NOW or later? A delicious and fulfilling life is more valuable than a million dollars. Don’t search for the keys; you already have them. If you cannot say you are living a delicious life it’s as simple as saying, “I am willing to do what it takes, to stop making excuses, and to stop procrastinating in my life.” Then you must take action. Open up your life pantry, browse around and pull out your best ingredients and create the most delicious life you could ever imagine.
“When life presents challenges, stand up, stare them in the face and say ‘I am victorious, you do not have control of my life’ and then charge at them will full force (mind, body, and spirit). The goal of a delicious life is to live without limits, restrictions, or fear!” --Catrice M. Jackson
